Dreams bigger than New York

Movie theater Margot and Alma are inseparable, life-and-death friends. Aspiring actresses, they love parties, glitter and drunken nights. Auditioned for a play which tells the arrival in New York of a young immigrant, they are both taken: Alma will play the first role and Margot will be her understudy. Performed by the fiery Souheila Yacoub (Margot) and Déborah Lukumuena (Alma), between the waves is a film about friendship, the overflowing energy of youth, the dreams that nothing can stop. Playing on the porous border between theater and cinema, between life and the stage, Anaïs Volpé watches the girls sway in a nocturnal Paris that the American cinematographer Sean Price Williams films like New York. A moving and electrifying debut feature. S.J.
