Soraya currently lives with her mother and their 7 cats and 2 dogs. Her bond with her mother is incredibly strong. “My mother is my everything, she is truly above everyone,” says Soraya. It is precisely her strong bond with her mother that has made her go around for years with a big secret.
Her mother has had cancer several times, and when she finds out she’s sick again in 2016, Soraya makes a shocking discovery. He discovers that his father is having an extramarital affair. And he doesn’t end there: he has also had two children with each other. “It was exactly the same time my mom got sick for the third time,” Soraya says. “My mom was fighting for her life and I didn’t want to drop another bomb on it.”
So Soraya decides to keep everything to herself and not tell her mother anything. “I’d rather put myself down than throw the bomb at mom. Because she already has so much on her mind. And I’ve kept it for five years to keep it to myself.” This takes a heavy toll on her. “Eventually I stopped going to school. I felt so bad that I often started to be a sailor, eventually I even dropped out of school.”
