The estate is looking for someone with a ‘hands-on’ mentality. In addition, the new manager of the centuries-old house must be present at the castle at least five nights a week where he or she is responsible for maintenance tasks, reports the BBC.
Those who are easily seasick do not need to register for the position, as the only way to leave the island at high tide is by boat.
“The best thing about living here is that you have a sea view from every window,” says employee Duncan Murdoch. Downside is that you cannot have pizza delivered.
The St Aubyn family, who have lived in the castle for generations, say they are looking for a discreet and compassionate person. It is also a plus if you want to settle in the Cornwall area.
The castle dates back to 1135 when construction started. The island is located 450 meters off the coast and can be reached by ferries. The causeway that is flooded at high tide is the only land route.
