DreadXP, a publisher specializing in horror titles within the indie game industry, has announced the release of a new PC game titled ”Sucker for Love: Date to Die For” on February 14, 2024. Along with the announcement, they have also released the latest trailer for the game.
As we reported on May 7th, “Sucker for Love: Date to Die For” is a loosely adapted combination of H.P. Lovecraft’s 1936 novel “The Shadow over Innsmouth” and a dating simulation game, with a touch of Japanese anime flavor. The game was released in 2022 as a sequel to the highly acclaimed ”Sucker for Love: First Date,” which gained popularity for its unique and forced setting. Although the story of the sequel does not have a deep connection to the previous game, players can start playing from this installment without any issues.
The protagonist of the game is a woman named Stardust, who returns to her hometown of Sacramen-Cho after receiving a letter from her supposedly deceased parents. However, she is captured by a cult that has taken over the town. Stardust opens the cult’s grimoire and summons Rhok’zan, a black goat parody of Shub-Niggurath, a “black goat of the woods with a thousand young” from the Cthulhu Mythos. The story revolves around Stardust’s attempt to escape from the town with the help of Rhok’zan.
Thus, a love drama unfolds between Stardust and various indescribable creatures from another world. The game can be categorized as a visual novel with multiple endings.
It is unfortunate that the game does not currently support the Japanese language, but fans can look forward to its release on Valentine’s Day next year. Additionally, a demo version of the game is available on the Steam store page.

Lovecraft’s renowned 1936 novel, “The Shadow over Innsmouth,” and a dating simulation game, infused with an enticing Japanese anime twist. This highly anticipated game serves as a sequel to the critically acclaimed “Sucker for Love: First Date,” which captivated players with its one-of-a-kind and captivating storyline.
