The turnover of the telecommunications sector recorded a drop of around 1.18% at the end of March 2022, compared to the last quarter of 2021.
According to the report of the Mobile Market Observatory, the turnover increased from 476.92 million US dollars to 471.28 million US dollars.
According to the same official statistics, the average revenue per subscriber (ARPU) also recorded a drop of around 0.57%, from 3.38 USD to 3.36 USD per month.
Notwithstanding a negative variation of -2.36%, Vodacom, the market leader, achieved the highest turnover in the first quarter of 2022 at 167,351,157 USD.
With a turnover estimated at 156,816,801 USD, an increase of 0.85%, Airtel comes in second place. It is followed by Orange, which recorded a drop in its turnover of around -0.21%, i.e. an amount of 122,253,887 USD realized at the end of the first 90 days of the current year. .
For its part, Africell brings up the rear with a turnover estimated at 24,859,225 USD in the first quarter of 2022.
According to indications from the Observatory of the mobile telephony market, Africell recorded the largest decline in terms of turnover in the first quarter of 2022, i.e. -9.66%.
