Badou Jack (27-3-3, 16 KOs) defeated Ilunga Makabu (29-2, 25 KOs) this Sunday at Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia. The task was tougher for the Congolese against the 39-year-old Swedish-Gambian who had just won five consecutive victories, including three by knockout. The Congolese cedes the WBC light-heavyweight world champion title after 12 rounds. The game was difficult from the start of the fight for Makabu knocked down twice (4th and 11th round).
The Congolese defended the title for the third time. He won the vacant WBC light-heavyweight title on January 31, 2020 after his victory on points against Michal Cieslak. Makabu had managed to retain his title in December 2020 at the expense of Olanrewaju Durodola and in January 2022 against Thabiso Mchunu.
