Draw, The Citizens fail to stay away from Liverpool

Manchester City had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace in continuation Premier League. These results make The Citizens failed to stay away from the pursuit of Liverpool.

Competing at Selhurst Park Stadium, Tuesday (15/3/2022) early morning WIB, Man City failed to bring home the full points. The draw against Crystal Palace has put Pep Guardiola’s troops at the top of the table under threat.

Man City currently has 70 points from 29 matches. Liverpool are second with 66 points from 28 games. Crystal Palace temporarily sits in eleventh position with 34 points.

The course of the match

Man City took the dominance of the game early in the match. Two shots were fired within seven minutes through Rodri and Riyad Mahrez, but neither was on target.

Crystal Palace threatened in the 10th minute through a quick counter-attack scheme. Wilfried Zaha, who got a pass from Conor Gallagher, failed to take advantage of the opportunity well.

Man City turn to spread threats in the 13th minute. Kevin De Bruyne opened fire from outside the penalty box, but the ball can still be pushed over by goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

It was Riyad Mahrez’s turn to threaten the Crystal Palace goal in the 22nd minute. The Man City winger fired a shot from the side of the penalty box and again Guaita made a save.

Man City’s opportunity to score again wasted in the 25th minute. De Bruyne’s shot from close range can still be anticipated by Guaita. A minute later, Joao Cancelo’s shot hit the post.
