This Wednesday, November 1, the draw for the 7th of the French Football Cup took place in Clairefontaine. A stage which marks the entry into the running of the region’s Ligue 2 clubs. Saint-Etienne will travel to Bourg-Péronnas (N2). Annecy will face ES Fosséenne (N3) and Grenoble will face Villefranche Beaujolais (N). FC Seyssins, little Isère player in the competition, will host Le Puy-en-Velay (N2).
The fate is now sealed for the 23 regional clubs competing in the 7th round of the Coupe de France. The draw for this new level, determining at the same time the 8th round, took place this Wednesday, November 1, in Clairefontaine, in Ile-de-France. Before this stage, the 23 representatives from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes were divided into two groups (H and I), determining the next two rounds of the competition.
In group H, Grenoble Foot 38 and SC Bastia are the two Ligue 2 clubs. GF38, quarter-finalist last season, will start its new national cup campaign with very good opposition, on the field of VF Villefranche Beaujolais (N), playing in National. Note the reception of SC Bastia (L2) by the National 3 club of Lyon-La Duchère (N3).
Roche St Genest (R2) – AS Saint-Priest (N3)
FC Limonest Dardilly Saint-Didier (N3) – AS Domérat (R1)
Velay FC (R1) – FC Martigues (Nat)
Lyon-La Duchère (N3) – SC Bastia (L2)
Thonon Evian Grand Genève FC (N2) – Aubagne FC (N2)
Hauts Lyonnais (N3) – CS Neuville (R1)
US Feurs (N3) – FC Espaly (N3)
FC Villefranche Beaujolais (N) – Grenoble Foot 38 (L2)
Chambéry Savoie Football (N3) – CS Volvic (R1)
The 8th round could give rise to an interesting derby if GF 38 escapes from the trap of Villefranche Beaujolais and if Chambéry Savoie Football is not surprised by SC Volvic.
Group I is the second group containing the clubs from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, including one of the three “little thumbs” in the competition, FC Seyssins (D1). Before knowing the fate of his players, Boubekeur Bouchelaghem, co-coach of the Isère team, present in the Paris region to determine the fate of teams from other groups, testified about the journey “extraordinaire“of his club, which”had never gone that far“. He was hoping “a good draw for the football festival“.
The latter will face Le Puy Foot, a National 2 club. Saint-Etienne (L2), eliminated in the 7th round last season against Rodez (L2), will be opposed to Bourg-en-Bresse-Péronnas (N2). For its part, FC Annecy (L2), author of a magnificent run last year, stopped in the semi-final against Toulouse FC, future winner of the competition, will go to Bouches-du-Rhône, to face the ES Fosséenne.
FC Chaponnay-Marennes (R2) – Hyéres FC (N2)
FC Seyssins (D1) – Le Puy Foot (N2)
Bourg-Péronnas (N2) – As Saint-Etienne (L2)
