FC Groningen drew its home match against NAC Breda on Sunday afternoon, 1-1. At halftime, no goals had yet been scored in Euroborg. In the second half the guests took the lead through Manel Royo. Johan Hove equalized for the FC. Nils Eggens, striker from the FC Groningen Academy, made his debut as a substitute for the Pride of the North.

The North Stand left no room for misunderstanding in a packed Euroborg, all supporters were once again fully behind the green and white on Sunday afternoon. A beautiful flag display produced a beautiful and atmospheric image.

A first half with few dangerous moments for either goal followed. Laros Duarte saw his shot from outside the penalty area go wide after more than ten minutes of play. Johan Hove shot between the posts after twenty minutes of play from outside the box. The Norwegian pushed a deflected cross towards the right corner, but NAC keeper Tein Troost stretched towards the corner and made a good save.

At the other end, goalkeeper Hidde Jurjus was at his post ten minutes before the end of the first half when Matthew Garbett took aim at the FC goal. Jurjus boxed the hard shot over the goal. Although the FC pushed hard from the sides, the 0-0 score was logical.

NAC Breda put the FC behind early in the second half. The visitors were awarded a penalty after three minutes of play in the second act. Although Jurjus stopped the penalty, the Breda team was successful in the attack that followed the rebound. Manel Royo headed in a cross at the far post, 0-1.

The FC had to look for the equalizer and with the first real big chance for the Pride of the North, it was an immediate hit. Before half-time, Hove was the FC player who came closest to scoring. After the break, the Norwegian expertly finished a sharp cross from Marco Rente, 1-1.

The team of coach Dick Lukkien went looking for more. Two fresh attackers came into the field with Noam Emeran and Rui Mendes. They replaced Luciano Valente and Laros Duarte. The Frenchman was dangerous with a cross to striker Romano Postema, but the FC’s top scorer could not print. In the absolute final phase, Nils Eggens made his debut for the Pride of the North, but the striker from his own academy was also unable to change the score. It ended in a 1-1 draw in Euroborg.
