The draw for the first round of the TOTO KNVB Cup season 2024/’25 has been made. Timo Reessink, head of professional football competition at the KNVB, Tim Pieters (USV Hercules) and René van der Kooij (Rijnsburgse Boys) linked 52 clubs in the ESPN program De Eretribune, including 24 amateur associations and 28 professional football organizations. First division FC Winterswijk (sixth level) performed a stunt in the second qualifying round by eliminating Third Divisionist Gemert.

The road to De Kuip is open again. From reigning cup winner Feyenoord to First Division club FC Winterswijk, 58 clubs can still dream of the final that will be played in Rotterdam on Sunday, April 21.

Giant killers

Of those 58 clubs, 52 went into the draw for the first round. Among them are formidable giant killers such as Hercules, Spakenburg and IJsselmeervogels. The professional football clubs that qualified for European football last season only entered the second round of the TOTO KNVB Cup. This concerns Ajax, AZ, Feyenoord, Go Ahead Eagles, PSV and FC Twente.

The 26 matches in the first round will be played on Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October. If an amateur club and a professional football club draw against each other in the draw for the first round, the amateur club always plays at home.
