Drastík: New panel of judges? Few were interested in getting dirty. I miss Melichar in it

“Referees will now have to whistle as best they can. They no longer have any cover,” says former judge Andreas Drastík.

Tomáš Bárta, Executive Director of the League Football Association, was appointed the Executive Committee of the Football Association of the Czech Republic, Jan Zahradníček, Chairman of the Judges in the Steering Committee for Moravia, and Jiří Kureš, Head of the Rules Commission.

“Zahradníček and Kureš have been among the referees for a long time. Although Bárta has no experience with whistling, he represented the league association in the appealed committee. I think that in the current situation it is a suitable composition. Someone just has to lead it, but no changes take place they will not, “says Andreas Drastík, a former assistant who was removed from the list of judges for professional competitions due to criticism by Josef Krula.

However, who he lacks is Jaroslav Melichar, whose name was also inflected in connection with the provisional panel of judges. “I know him as a fair man who didn’t make football a science. But precisely because he’s an honest guy, he probably didn’t do it,” adds Drastík.

According to him, the same case is Radek Příhoda, who received an offer to head the judges after the dismissed Jozef Chovanec. “It is crazy to be accountable to the current leadership of the union. In addition, he would have limited powers. He would have to work with the referees and delegates who are there now – and most of them are not there for their professional qualities, but for their loyalty to the federation.” , who ran on the league lawns with the flag for nine years.

Drastík expects that a regular commission of arbitrators will be established only after the June election general meeting. “Until then, we still have three-quarters of the rounds of the football league, which is quite enough. On the other hand, I don’t think there will be any excesses, now the referees will have to whistle as best they can because they won’t know who will come after the election.” adds Drastík, who is also a member of the Clean Football movement.
