Drastic jump in fuel prices in our country. Experts report a record rise in prices over the past 6 months.
The data on the site Fuelo.net show that for the last half of the year alone the price of gasoline has risen the most – by 23 stotinki. To date, an average liter is sold for BGN 2.02. Diesel has also risen in price – by 22 cents. In third place is propane butane with 21 cents.
FUEL PRICE JUMP: Diesel has risen the most – by nearly 10 stotinki
The higher price of fuels also affects Danail Velev’s pocket.
“I generally drive on gas and very rarely refuel. But at the moment I filled both fuels to the top. In general, I will pay maybe about 20-30 leva more “, Danail Velev estimates.
For the last 6 months, the most popular gasoline has jumped by almost 13%. Experts point to the price of crude oil as a reason for both its rise in price and that of diesel.
“There is an increase of about 11-12% depending on the type of fuel. It is entirely due to crude oil, there are no other factors, you know for the last 3 months crude oil has risen in price from 35 to 70 dollars a barrel “, explained Svetoslav Benchev, BPGA.
“The factors that have been influencing lately are foreign policy. Several consecutive OPEC decisions concerning the limitation of yields. China is a very large customer who replenishes its reserves and buys a very large amount of oil, “said Georgi Tanev of the Association of Bulgarian Fuel Traders.
According to him, there could be no talk of a new jump in prices. The fuels caught up with the values from the period before the coronavirus occurred.
“By the end of this month, we expect to reach about 2.10 and gasoline and diesel, gas will more or less maintain its current level,” said Tanev.
“I personally think that by the end of the month the crude oil exchange rate will go down, because I think it is at very high levels at the moment,” Benchev said.
Domestic market factors will also play a role in the price of petrol and diesel by the summer.
“Rising consumption with the start of the tourist season. The vaccination process itself is progressing, which implies a relaxation of the measures “, commented Georgi Tanev.
“We certainly do not expect an increase of 20 cents until the beginning of summer, it all depends on the price of crude oil. If it stays with the current values, there may be an increase within a few cents, but nothing drastic will happen, “said Benchev.
