Two people were rescued from the sea in Kijkduin in The Hague on Sunday evening. The fire brigade confirmed this to NU.nl. The two were resuscitated on the beach and taken to hospital in “worrisome condition”.
The rescue operation was preceded by a search. Passersby found a dog and a few items of clothing near the waterline on Sunday evening. The police were called and a search was started, including with a helicopter.
The two people were found and removed from the water at 7 p.m. They were then resuscitated on the beach. “The victims were in serious condition when they were taken to hospital by ambulance,” the fire brigade said.
It is not yet clear what happened on the beach.
The dog was taken by the police and handed over to the animal ambulance.
