Books – Marwan Al-Tayeb:

The 96th Academy Awards ceremony, which was held in the early hours of Monday morning at the Dolby Theater in the American city of Los Angeles, witnessed many surprises and embarrassing situations in the presence of the brightest stars and filmmakers in Hollywood and around the world.

Many stars broke their silence and supported the Palestinian people against the massacres and violations of the Zionist entity, the continued bombing of the Gaza Strip, its stubbornness in not entering aid, and the displacement and martyrdom of thousands of families. Among the most prominent of these stars was the American actor of Egyptian descent, Rami Youssef, who appeared wearing a distinctive Arab costume, which is the “jilbab.” “In reference to his adherence to his Arabism, the look was admired by his fans.

“Rami” spoke about the unfortunate political scene in the Gaza Strip in his interview with the “Variety” website and demanded peace and permanent justice for the Palestinian people and commented: “I think it is a global message, which is: Stop killing children. Let us not participate in more wars, and that there are many stars tonight who They are also demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and we will use our position to reach as many people as possible.”

French actor Swann Arold, one of the heroes of the drama film “Anatomy of a Fall,” also appeared wearing a pin bearing the “Palestinian flag.”

One of the most strange situations at the ceremony was the appearance of American actor John Cena completely “naked” on stage while presenting the “Best Costume Design” award, and he commented sarcastically: “Fashion is very important.”

The ceremony also included a song by the Osage tribe, who belong to the American Indians, in honor of the drama film “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which was nominated for 10 Oscars but did not win any award.

American singer Billie Eilish won her second Oscar for Best Song for the comedy film “Barbie.”

The action thriller “Godzilla Minus One” won the Academy Award for “Best Visual Effects”, which is the only award nominated for.

The French film “Anatomy of a Fall” also won a single award, “Best Original Screenplay,” out of 4 awards.

As for the movie “The Zone of Interest,” it won two Oscars: “Best Foreign Film of the Year” and “Best Sound” out of 5 awards.

One of the surprises at this year’s Oscars ceremony was that actress Emma Stone won the “Best Actress in a Leading Role” award for her role in the movie “Poor Things,” despite many expecting actress Lily Gladstone to win for her role in the events of the drama movie “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

The biographical drama film “Oppenheimer” swept the awards ceremony this year with 7 awards: “Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Soundtrack.”
