What a tragedy: A serious accident in a residential area in Harsefeld (Stade district) ends fatally for a young driver (23) and his passenger (19). Another inmate (16) is seriously injured.
According to the police, the terrible accident occurred on Sunday evening shortly after 5:30 p.m.: A 23-year-old driver from Harsefeld was driving his VW Polo on Wiesenweg in the 30 zone there when he left the road in a right-hand bend – “Probably due to inadequate speed,” said spokesman Rainer Bohmbach.

Any help came too late for the 23-year-old: despite immediate resuscitation, the young man died at the scene of the accident. A 19-year-old passenger from Bad Zwischenahn was initially trapped in the wreckage and had to be rescued by around 55 firefighters. After first aid from an emergency doctor, he was taken to the Stade Elbe Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite all efforts, he could no longer be helped there and he died on Monday morning.
Courageous first responders save 16-year-old passenger
The 16-year-old passenger from Harsefeld was saved from the passenger seat by courageous first aiders. She was also taken to the Stade Elbe Hospital with serious injuries after receiving emergency medical first aid.

The rescue helicopter Christoph 42 from Rendsburg, four ambulances, the two emergency doctors from Stade and Buxtehude as well as the group of organizational heads of the rescue service in the Stade district were deployed. An emergency chaplain looked after relatives of the accident victims and the emergency services deployed.
Police are looking for witnesses
The VW Polo was completely destroyed in the accident. The meadow path had to be completely closed during the rescue and recovery measures as well as the accident recording and subsequent clean-up work.
