Drama in Strépy: no emergency plan activated in Louviérois and Mons hospitals

After the terrible tragedy that occurred this Sunday, the hospitals in Louviérois and Mons are organizing themselves in order to best accommodate the many injured, some of whom are still in intensive care. Thanks to good dispatching work by 112, their work has been somewhat facilitated, thus not requiring the activation of the emergency plan in the hospitals of Jolimont and Tivoli. A municipal emergency plan has nevertheless been put in place.

Among the ten patients received by the CHU Tivoli, three were in serious condition and one in very serious condition. Solidarity between the different departments of the hospital was then put in place so as not to call on the hospital’s emergency plan. “The influx of patients was well managed thanks to the upstream work of 112, which was responsible for dispatching the wounded, some of whom are in critical condition. Four of them were in serious to very serious condition.“, says Cynthia Colson, spokesperson for CHU Tivoli.

Same story with the Jolimont group, which was also able to count on the good dispatching of 112 to best manage the influx of patients. “We have not activated the emergency plan of the hospital thanks to this good work of the 112. A municipal emergency plan has however been put in place“, says Sophie de Norre, spokesperson for the Jolimont group. Three patients are currently in intensive care there. However, no additional deaths are to be deplored at the moment.

The teams of psychologists are also on the alert to help the victims as well as their families and members of the hospitals. “The internal psychologist team at the hospital is available for the many victims psychologically affected after this tragedy“, explique Cynthia Colson. “Teams of psychologists external to the hospital are also in charge of monitoring the members of the hospital affected by the tragedy.“On the Jolimont side, internal and external psychologists at the hospital are also on hand to support the victims and the staff.
