Levski’s coach Nikolay Kostov has received an ultimatum from the club’s bosses to qualify the team for the Conference League, because otherwise he will have to look for a new job, writes Tema sport.
The Gerena situation has been quite dynamic in this regard in the last two weeks. After the 0:2 defeat by CSKA, the majority owner Nasko Sirakov said that he is still not worried about winning the Euro quota. And just a week ago at a press conference he said:
“I have had a conversation with Nikolay Kostov. I am adamant that this coaching management will work next season as well. We hope to announce the renewal of the coach’s contract soon.” The coach was tight-lipped on the matter on Friday. “Now is not the time to discuss this topic. Since he said soon, we will be waiting for him that “soon”. We will discuss what are the real possibilities to change things in the club”, noted the mentor.
However, on Saturday, Levski played another weak match and lost 1:3 against Black Sea at “Ticha”. This raised tensions among both the fans and the club. The Ultras have announced a boycott of the upcoming Beroe host and Gerena’s Sector B is expected to remain empty. And the blues are already three points away from the fourth Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
And if they do not improve their form, they will miss the European tournaments. This is the reality today. Levski has been in bad physical shape in recent matches. And the game in defense is under all criticism – in the last 3 matches, 10 goals were scored (b.a. – the team also lost 1:5 against Ludogorets). All these aggregates seriously shook Kostov’s chair, although until a few days ago the coach must have been sitting on it.
