This Saturday, October 15, the concert of the Carimi group at the Accor Arena in Bercy ended in tragedy. In fact, the Haitian singer Mikaben died of a heart attack as he left the stage of the Parisian hall.

Separated for six years, the members of the group had in fact decided to meet on stage for a unique concert in the Parisian hall. And while the party was in full swing, MicahHaitian singer from Port-au-Prince, he joined Carlo Vieux, Mickael Guirand and Richard Cave, the three members of Carimi, to perform his hit Ou Pati.
But leaving the stage the 41-year-old singer collapsed, requiring immediate help to try to save his life. “It is very complicated, (…), we need your prayer […] someone passed out, said Mickaël Guirand on stage, without adding anything else. The concert was eventually canceled. And an hour after the terrible accident, and despite the heart massage provided by the emergency services, Mikaben did not survive.

On Twitter, Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry reacted to the tragic news. “I am devastated by the news of the sudden death of the young and talented artist Michael Benjamin “Mikaben”. For its part, the Accor Arena team said it was “terribly impressed“from the death of the artist and addressed”his support for his family and loved ones“, as well as his producer Claude Cyndecki and his fans.
Born in 1981 in Port-au-Prince, Michael Benjamin aka Mikaben is the son of singer Lionel Benjamin. After founding the successful group Krézi Mizik, he participated in Carimi’s hits, which earned him an invitation with them on stage this Saturday. Mikaben leaves behind a child born of a first union, Gaby, and a one and a half year old girl, Leïa. On Instagram a few weeks ago, the singer and his partner Vanessa announced they were expecting their second child, whose birth is scheduled for December.
