The main rescue station at the rescue boat “Stormbull” had to help a sailing boat in serious trouble outside Nevlunghavn on Saturday.
– The crew of “Stormbull” today saved a man who had to jump ashore when the sailboat was hit against a reef, says the Rescue Company in a message.
The rescue company must have been informed about the sailboat by people who were at the Tvitstein lighthouse. The installation itself took place on a reef on the west side of the lighthouse.
– Everything must have gone well with the man, HRS explains further.
– Rain and weather
The skipper of RS “Stormbull”, Lars Petter Helminsen, tells Varden on Saturday night the following about the rescue operation that took place at 8pm.
– The man was successfully rescued from the sailing boat and on land. He was wet and rude, but otherwise unharmed, said Helminsen, who says the man is from Telemark and they sent him to Langesund.

As for the sailboat, it is not certain what will happen next.
– He is damaged and will remain out at the reef until further notice. An assessment must be made as to whether an effort should be made to save it, says Helmisnen.
– Did the man say anything why it went wrong?
– There was a lot of sea when he sailed, so he decided to turn around. but then he ran into problems and made a mistake on the distance to reef and land. It sailed straight towards the reef where it hit, said Helminsen.
Accidentally spilled
He says the man was very happy to have been saved.
– He was very grateful. He has been lucky in accidents because people had seen this and reported it to us, says the ski driver.
