A spokesman for the police headquarters in Frankfurt am Main reported on Sunday afternoon about the serious accident that happened around 1.15 a.m. in the Kalbach-Riedberg district.
According to the report, a 21-year-old woman crossed Marie-Curie-Strasse on foot after walking along Steinweg in the direction of the Science Garden and probably wanting to walk in the direction of Neumühlenweg.
There was also a pedestrian traffic light and pedestrian crossing in the later accident area. But the first investigations showed that the 21-year-old probably did not use it. This could also have been the reason why a driver (61) could not see the young woman in the dark in time and then hit her with his car.

The pedestrian was loaded onto the bonnet of the car and thrown over it onto the road. But it got even worse: A 33-year-old driver behind the 61-year-old was unable to react to this situation in time.
He finally ran over the woman’s legs, who ended up being taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, where she immediately underwent emergency surgery.

The driver of the first car was first subjected to an alcohol test by the officers after the accident, but it was negative. A test for THC, on the other hand, had a positive reaction, which resulted in a blood sample being taken from the 61-year-old and his driver’s license being secured.
Marie-Curie-Strasse remained completely closed until the police measures had been completed and an expert had assessed the area. Further investigations continue.
