It’s been a tough year for the hip-hop community when it comes to sudden losses, as legends like Young Dolph were suddenly swept away around Thanksgiving, and the impact of the tragic deaths at Astroworld is ever-present. But for Los Angeles, the loss of rapper Drakeo The Ruler is one of the hardest to swallow. After being stabbed backstage at the Once Upon A Time In LA festival, hosted by Snoop Dogg, Drakeo, real name Darrell Caldwell, succumbed to his injuries.

On Instagram, The Plug shared a tribute message to his late brother

A big loss for Los Angeles

Drakeo the Ruler, born Darrell Coldwell, stabbed to death during festival concert Once Upon a Time de Snoop Dogg. TMZ reports that Drakeo was killed in a brawl that broke out backstage. Los Angeles Police, California Highway Patrol, and firefighters attended the festival grounds at Exposition Park. Unfortunately, they couldn’t save Drakeo and took him to the hospital.
