The rap world mourns Drakeo the Ruler (1993-2021). As the “Los Angeles Times” and the music magazine “Rolling Stone” report, the 28-year-old rapper died after he was stabbed backstage at the music festival “Once Upon a Time in LA” on Saturday. The festival was then canceled, the headliners Snoop Dogg (50) and 50 Cent (46) did not appear at all.
Snoop Dogg: “I pray for peace in hip hop”
“I’m sad about the events that took place last night,” wrote US rapper Snoop Dogg on Twitter. “My condolences go to the family and loved ones of Drakeo the Ruler,” the message continued. “My prayers go out to all affected by this tragedy. Please take care, love one another and stay healthy.” Snoop Dogg concluded by saying, “I pray for peace in hip hop”. The rapper had left the festival after hearing about the incident in the cloakroom.
The Canadian rapper Drake (35), who worked with Drakeo on the song “Talk to Me” released in February 2021, remembers his rapper colleague with an emotional tribute in an Instagram story. “No man, that’s really not right. What the hell are we doing?” He wrote of a photo of Drakeo. “You always cheered me up with your energy,” he added. “RIP Drakeo”.
Legal action required
Joey Fatts, 30, comments on twitter his frustration over the incident in which his friend was killed. He was said to have been at the venue to perform when “Drakeo at Work” was killed on Saturday. “There is no reason why a knife should be smuggled into a music festival. Especially since the Travis Scott tragedy. Rip Drakeo! I hope his family will file a lawsuit,” the musician continued. At Scott’s Astroworld Festival, ten people died in a mass panic in early November.
Musician Saweetie (28), rapper Trippie Redd (22), music producer Juicy J (46) and Roddy Ricch (23) are also among the musicians who mourn Drakeo’s death on Twitter. “Man, Drakeo was always damn cool and respectful”, wrote about Saweetie to emojis with crying face and praying hands. “Pray for his family, RIP The Ruler.”
Festival ended prematurely
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported Saturday that a man in critical condition was rushed to a local hospital after he was stabbed in Exposition Park at around 8:39 p.m. local time. Have two sources the “People” magazine confirmedthat the man who was evacuated from the festival was Drakeo the Ruler.
The organizers of the festival also announced that “Once Upon a Time in LA” was prematurely ended shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday.
