Drainage Needs Repair After Mandalika Circuit Flooded

Jakarta

Heavy rains and strong winds occurred in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), yesterday afternoon. As a result, several points on the Mandalika Circuit, which is the location of the event WSBK Mandalika 2021, flooded.

There are several points on the Mandalika Circuit that are flooded, such as the pick-up area to the MSME exhibition area. Stagnant water at these points is called because the drainage function at the location is not optimal.

“It’s not bad, it just needs to fix the drainage system on the connecting roads between booths and pick-up locations,” said the Head of the NTB Province Diskominfotik, Najamuddin, when contacted detik.com, Saturday (20/11/2021) night.

He admitted, there were spectators who complained about the presence of puddles at the location of the event after the rain stopped. This will be a concern for the NTB Provincial Government if it immediately improves the drainage at the Mandalika Circuit.

“What viewers may complain about traveling from the pick-up location to grand stand some spots there are puddles. Yes, the name is also a new area, I, us, EO and ITDC must fix the comfort of the audience towards grand stand each viewing location is according to the ticket,” he said.

Even though it was flooded, Najamuddin assessed that the drainage system in the Mandalika area, especially in the circuit area, was quite fast in absorbing flood water.

“It’s been proven that the circuit track has had two heavy rains before and today, I can see that the drainage has dried up very quickly,” he said.

Meanwhile, due to the heavy rain and strong wind race 1 is officially cancelled. Race will be resumed on Sunday (21/11) today.

“The cancellation of the race this afternoon, and will continue on Sunday tomorrow (today), due to the very short visibility due to heavy rain,” he added.
