Draguignan/Trans-en-Provence District Police Station Welcomes Eight New Officers to Reinforce Ranks

“Huit staff come to reinforce our ranks. For us, that’s huge. We really needed it, it’s going to give us some air…”

Faced with the news, Commissioner Cédric Fèvre does not hide his satisfaction. Because, for the head of the public security district of Draguignan / Trans-en-Provence, the need was more than crying.

Faced with the news, Commissioner Cédric Fèvre does not hide his satisfaction. Because, for the head of the public security district of Draguignan / Trans-en-Provence, the need was more than crying.

A total staff of 124 police officers

In his eyes, the arrival of these eight additional police officers out of the 124 staff at the police station, all services combined, is a good ratio. “Movements exist every year in our services, but in these proportions, it is very rare” he congratulates himself. What to achieve “an acceptable balance”formulates the lawyer.

Because in Draguignan, the national police are not bored. In essence, this is the message that the police intend to convey. “Between current affairs, our missions related to the remand center and the judicial court, or the supervision of demonstrations like those against the pension reform, there is plenty to do. So much that we were so far forced to regularly call on external reinforcements.”

Reinforcements by night… and day

To fill the gaps, these additional staff will soon be distributed among different departments. Two additional police officers will be assigned to night shifts. “Right now, we rotate with two brigades, each consisting of 10 police officers.”

However, the police station has for some time been recording an increase in nocturnal activity, “with more and more reported cases”. And also carries out more night road checks, “which inevitably leads to more procedures…”

Especially since at night, the police also guard detainees at the hospital center. “This scenario happens regularly…”

And inevitably, the staff mobilized for this medical surveillance in hospitals will not intervene elsewhere.

During the day, the anti-crime brigade (Bac) and local security groups (GSP) will also be reinforced with one police officer each. “This will allow us in particular to set up two patrols simultaneously, which we could hardly do so far.”

More foot patrols

Four other reinforcements will be seconded to urban security: “ This includes all the judicial part. These plainclothes police officers are responsible for dealing with ongoing proceedings.”

Some of them will be assigned to current affairs, for cases of flagrant offenses of attacks on persons and attacks on property. The other will be attached to the Draguignan remand center, with on the menu: interrogations of detainees, author or witness in a case, complaints, etc. “These staff carry out “classic” investigations, but in a prison environment. »

These reinforcements will also allow the police to carry out more foot patrols. “And in particular to further control the deviations of the homeless in the city center of Draguignan”, assures the commissioner. Before adding: “Being on the ground, in contact with the population, is obviously beneficial. It also allows us to obtain more feedback.”

And to conclude: “We are short of people in all departments. These reinforcements will allow us to plug a few holes…”

Currently, the operation of the police station is experiencing disruptions. Read, moreover, our departmental pages.
