So at the School of Young Firefighters of Draguignan!

The association of the School of Young Firefighters will return 50% of its municipal subsidy (2,200 euros out of 4,300) for the benefit of the most vulnerable Dracénois on Wednesday May 6 at 2:15 p.m. at City Hall.
Created in 1996, this association, and its president Michel Bigorgne, welcome a dozen young people aged 15 to train them in the profession of firefighter.
At the end of this 3-year training course, they validate the Young Firemen’s Certificate which allows them to become a volunteer firefighter.
The Young Firefighters of Draguignan went in particular to Aude to lend a hand to the teams on site after the floods of 2018.

Encourage associations to support social action by paying back their grants

To date, other associations have taken the same step to repay all or part of their subsidy. This is the case for the hunting society “les Chasseurs dracénois” (2,000 euros), the Provencal Cultural Center (1,800 euros) and the Parent’s Association of UPE students.
These sums will be allocated to social actions carried out by the City or the Communal Center for Social Action to support families in situations of vulnerability due to the Coronavirus crisis, and especially towards people whose professional activities have been slowed down, even banned and whose status has been weakened to the point that their recent financial vulnerability is coupled with uncertainty about the future of their economic activity.
By arrowing the subsidies returned towards social action, the municipality wishes to encourage associations to return the share of their subsidy not consumed due to Covid-19.
In the original 2020 budget of the municipality of Draguignan, the total financial aid voted to associations was 1,147,500 euros.

Food baskets

In order to guarantee food security for the most vulnerable populations whose children eat regularly in the canteen, the city has purchased food baskets from Carrefour Salamandrier and Intermarché avenue Pierre Brossolette. The Draguignan firefighters’ association donated 3,000 euros to finance 25% of this operation.
On Thursday 7 May at 6 p.m., 9 low-income students from the student residence La villa des moulins will also benefit from a food basket.

Donations of associations

In order to support local trade, the Rotary club of Draguignan collected nearly € 25,000 which will be donated to the nursing staff (hospital, clinic, nursing home, etc.) in the form of vouchers in the amount of € 30 to € 40 valid. in dracénois shops.
Rotary Templars has also donated two digital tablets to the Résidence Îlot de l’Horloge, the Pierre de la Fée nursing home and the Dracénie hospital center. These tablets made it possible to set up Skype meetings between residents and their loved ones in order to maintain social ties during the confinement period.

“I received a packed lunch last Friday because I am in need with my 3 daughters who can no longer eat in the canteen following the Covid-19 and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of this basket and my daughters too and we would like to thank you, Mr. Mayor, as well as all the staff and the firefighters who helped to receive this basket, it is really a help which helps us to get our heads out of the water for this end of the month and thank you all thank you thank you thank you it was a great initiative thank you from us! “ (Facebook private message of April 28, 2020).
