While the European Heritage Days take place this weekend, the City of the Dragon offers several original encounters, which allow you to discover (or rediscover) its sometimes forgotten past.
The Interceltic Festival of Lorient 2022 –
Draguignan, a city with a rich past, will reveal a little more of its history this weekend.
On the occasion of European Heritage Daysan exceptional exhibition awaits visitors in the Chabran district, located near the CGR cinema (and the offices of France3 Côte d’Azur!).
This district (located in the center-east of the Var sub-prefecture), today made up of residential and office buildings (business incubator, connected campus), has in fact for some time been a high point of the department’s military activity.

For the occasion, the major Michel Delannoy, historian, lecturer has set up a rich and varied re-enactment of this district. Several appointments are scheduled for this Saturday 17 September 2002.
- at 11 am guided tour of the Parc Chabran.“It will be a commented evocation of the history of Chabran, with 3 different exhibition areas of historical photographs“, explains this specialist of the two world wars, who is also a mediator at the Artillery Museum.
- another appointment is scheduled at 4 pm Auditorium Dracenie: the projection of 280 historical photos, edited in the form of a slideshow lasting about 45 minutes. Enough to wipe out a century of history in a neighborhood that has totally transformed over time.
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to admire an exhibition of military vehicles (the car park will be privatized). They will also be able to vibrate to the rhythm of the serenades proposed by Draguignan Military Schools at 9:40 am, 11:40 am and 3:40 pm

At the same time, the day will be enriched by numerous activities: games for children, inflatable structures, sports and dancing activities, and excursions to discover the area.

For fans there is another interesting appointment: the guided tour of the American cemetery of Draguignan.

Tours are scheduled at 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm, for 40 people each time. The lowering of the flags must take place at 16:30.
Note that the rest of the time, self-guides and activity booklets will be available for families who wish, from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Finally, don’t hesitate to take a detour the Draguignan Artillery Museumwhich will open its doors and will present dozens of military vehicles working in its open parking lot.
