Dragon’s Dogma 2 becomes Capcom’s first $70 game

Even as more AAA publishers have started selling their games for $70 since the start of the current console generation, Capcom has still stuck with the $60 price tag, including major releases like Resident Evil 4 and Street Fighter 6. However, now the Japanese publisher is moving to a new standard.

At the recent presentation of Dragon’s Dogma 2, publisher Capcom officially announced the game’s release date in March and showed new gameplay footage. The company also confirmed that the open-world RPG will retail for $69.99 across all platforms, making it the first Capcom title to sell at that price.

Recall that earlier this year, while discussing the topic of game prices, Capcom head Haruhiro Tsujimoto said that, in his opinion, prices are now “too low”, so the company’s decision to switch to a higher pricing model is not something shocking, since Moreover, most AAA publishers have already switched to this model.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released on March 22, 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 will use Denuvo’s tamper-proof technology.
