Team 7 is led by US astronaut Jasmine Mogbeli and its members include Andreas Mogensen from Denmark, Satoshi Furukawa from Japan and Konstantin Borisov from Russia.
The launch vehicle “Falcon 9” with the spacecraft “Dragon” took off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 3:27 a.m. (10:27 a.m. Latvian time), and approximately 10,000 people had gathered to watch its takeoff.
Astronauts will stay in the ISS for six months, performing various scientific experiments.
Among other things, samples will be collected during the open spacewalk to check whether microorganisms are released into space through the ISS ventilation system.
Thus, it is intended to check whether microorganisms are able to survive and multiply in distribution.
Another experiment aims to evaluate the psychological differences between sleep on Earth and in space.
Currently, there are already seven people at the SKS station.
However, the 6th team of astronauts will return to Earth a few days after the arrival of the 7th team to the ISS.
