First and foremost, a new feature in the series is on its way. Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate appeared towards the end of Thursday’s broadcast, with a short teaser that basically only showed the game’s logo.

Game Manager Yuji Horii admittedly suggested that fans can expect certain changes to the game’s combat system. He did not want more with yet, so we are waiting for details about both launch and platforms.

The next item on the news list was a refurbishment of Dragon Quest III. The game, which was originally launched in 1998, is recreated in so-called HD 2D style – which Square has recently used in, for example, Octopath Traveler.

As if that weren’t enough, the developer also unveiled the side quest Dragon Quest Treasures – a role-playing game featuring characters from Dragon Quest XI. The mobile puzzle game Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi was also unveiled, as well as various news for the online role-playing game Dragon Quest X, which is only available in Japan.

We really liked the previous game in the series.
