Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi: Surprising announcement with trailer

Bandai Namco has surprisingly announced a new installment in the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series. There was also a matching trailer.

The finale of the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour took place this weekend in Las Vegas, where the best fighters competed for big prize money. At the event, a new installment in the “Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi” series was surprisingly announced and a suitable trailer was released.

Unfortunately, no further information was revealed apart from the trailer. It is therefore unclear for which platforms the game will be released and what the actual title is. But since the series has so far been released for PS2, PSP and Nintendo Wii, we can assume that the future installment will be released for PS4 and/or PS5. The trailer only mentions a new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi.

Son Goku becomes Super Saiyan Blue

The trailer shows an old CRT TV playing Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi. Here, for example, Cell, Piccolo and Son-Gohan compete against each other in duels. Suddenly the picture zooms in and we see Son Goku transforming into a Super Saiyan Blue.

The Super Saiyan Blue (also called Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, SSGSS) is a special Saiyan form. First, a fighter must attain Super Saiyan God Form. After that, he has to go through a very hard training in order to perfectly control his AI and achieve the Super Saiyan Blue. Super Saiyan Blue’s condition is more powerful than Super Saiyan God’s, but it also consumes a lot more stamina and is therefore not designed for long fights.

The last part of the “Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi” series was released in 2007. After that there was only an offshoot called “Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team” in 2010, which was only released for PSP.
