Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Former Mayor Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra, M. Syahrial, revealed a number of new facts in the trial of the alleged bribery case with the accused former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).NCP) AKP Stepanus Robin Pattuju and lawyer Maskur Husain.
In a trial held at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday (11/10), it was revealed the role of KPK Deputy Chair Lili Pintauli Siregar to the ‘taliban team’ handling the case in Tanjungbalai.
The Role of Lili Pintauli
Syahrial, who was presented as a witness by the KPK prosecutor, revealed that it was Lili Pintauli Siregar who first contacted him and discussed the case. At that time, Syahrial was suspected of being involved in the alleged corruption case in the auction of positions in the Tanjungbalai City Government. The file is already on Lili’s desk.
“I once asked for help, but at that time I never spoke, he” [Lili Pintauli Siregar] who said there was a problem at the KPK, I kept saying: ‘That’s an old case, ma’am, in 2019’, then the answer was ‘pray a lot’,” said Syahrial, who gave virtual testimony.
The alleged bribery case at Tanjungbalai involved the Regional Secretary (Sekda) Yusmada. Syahrial is suspected of receiving bribes from Yusmada. However, Syahrial had bribed Stepanus Robin, who at that time worked as a KPK investigator with the intention that the case would not go to the investigation stage.
In the process, Syahrial was also given the contact of a lawyer named Arief Aceh by Lili Pintauli to help him deal with corruption cases. However, in the end Syahrial used the services of Stepanus Robin, who he knew through the former Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Azis Syamsuddin.
“At night I still haven’t decided whether to go through Mr. Robin [terdakwa yang merupakan mantan penyidik KPK] or Miss Lili [untuk mengurus perkara]. I asked Mrs. Lili for instructions, finally given the name Arief Aceh, he is a lawyer,” said Syahrial.
Tim Taliban
In yesterday’s trial, Syahrial admitted that he had received information from Stepanus Robin that the team of investigators handling the alleged bribery case at Tanjungbalai was the ‘Taliban team’. Therefore, it was very difficult for Stepanus Robin to condition the case.
