Charel Cambré will receive the Bronze Adhemar this year. The winner of the most important Flemish comics prize is known to the general public as a draftsman of the ‘Suske & Wiske’ spin-off ‘Amoras’.

The Bronzen Adhemar has been awarded since 1977 by Stripgids, the oldest comic magazine in Flanders. This year the jury unanimously decided to award the prize to Charel Cambré for his impressive oeuvre, his enthusiasm for work, his unparalleled drawing talent and the exemplary role he takes on with his studio.

“Ask Charel Cambré the craziest thing that comes to your mind to draw and he will draw it, seemingly effortlessly,” said the jury report. ‘Cambré is a graphic all-rounder and also has a style that sells well. He can draw very quickly and can create a very good characterization with just a few lines. When he sits down at his drawing table, the most beautiful things appear on the drawing paper. His drawing style appeals to a lot of people. ‘
