Foxwoods Resort & Casino, in Connecticut, celebrated on Wednesday the official inauguration of DraftKings Sportsbook, a 12,000 square foot store that now offers online sports betting and iGame options. During the opening ceremony, the Former Boston Celtic player Kendrick Perkins placed the sportsbook’s first bet.

Perkins’ presence at the opening is the product of a 50-page agreement with the brand that is expected to benefit the casino and DraftKings. “A sign of our association and friendship for many years,” said the presidente de la Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Rodney Butler, after the former Celtic received his ticket.
“What this does for our brand is incredible,” he said during the ceremony. DraftKings co-founder and CEO Jason Robins.

From soft opening a month ago, the results have been positive: “We have received probably more than 70,000 bets in total since opening here at Foxwoods on November 12,” said the President and CEO of Foxwoods Resort & Casino, Jason Guyot.
The sports betting house not only offers the possibility of placing bets, but also offers a sports bar with a menu that includes items like desserts, short ribs, and mini-burgers. Guyot described the new sportsbook as “a sportsbook, a restaurant and a racebook.”

The venue also includes wall-to-wall televisions, including one of the largest LED screens in the industry, 15 by 15 meters, and several VIP lounges..
State Senator Cathy Osten of SpragueHe also hopes it will benefit the state and is working on legislation to ensure that casino money earmarked for municipalities is not transferred to another part of the state’s general fund. He estimates that it could be another $ 80 million.
“Right now it is about US $ 130 million, so it would be about 200 million that would go to municipalities throughout the state,” said Senator Osten.

Tribal sports betting first got under way in late September when DraftKings opened their temporary sportsbook in Foxwoods with a groundbreaking ceremony in which Governor Ned Lamont did the honors by placing the first ever bet. The Mohegan Sun casino also inaugurated its temporary premises, in alliance with FanDuel.
