Jakarta, (ANTARA) – Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 and Ambassador for New Habits, Dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro, said that basic immunization for children is important to protect high comorbid risks.
Moreover, basic immunization of children is carried out during the epidemic, in order to build better immunity.
“Diseases that can be prevented by immunization (PD3I) still exist. So we have to make our children immune to these existing diseases,” said Reisa via online, followed from Jakarta, Monday.
Reisa said complete basic immunization is important, because some dangerous infectious diseases such as chickenpox and polio can be suppressed. Complete basic immunization is an obligation that must be fulfilled by parents and the state.
“While the COVID-19 vaccine is the latest protection as an attempt to protect children,” said Reisa.
To support face-to-face learning, Reisa suggested that they also ensure that their children learn about health protocols.
“The clear target is that children can go to school like they used to. That’s why children, their teachers, their parents, the community and the regional government must ensure that schools are safe from COVID-19,” he said.
The government carried out mass COVID-19 vaccinations for groups of children aged 6-11 years, after previously being carried out in groups aged 12 years and over. The COVID-19 vaccine used is CoronaVax which has received an emergency use permit by the POM and has been studied at the age of children in vaccine-producing countries in China.
