Gastroenterologist Dr. Radislav Nakov is 32 years old. He suffered from cellular lymphoma.
Dr. Nakov was an expert in the field of irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), intestinal amyloidosis and intestinal microbiota. This year, Dr. Nakov was awarded the President’s Badge of Honor for his achievements in the field of medicine. Only a few weeks ago, a team led by him, which developed a Bulgarian guideline project, won a UEG grant – United European Gastroenterology.
In 2019, Dr. Nakov said on Facebook that he was refused to become an assistant at the Medical University in Sofia.
“How did I not become an assistant, because a cancer patient has no place in the Department of Gastroenterology at MU-Sofia. My name is Radislav Ventsislavov Nakov, 30 years old. Without a doctor. I’m on the other side right now. Patient. He has cancer. Until recently, it was just a diagnosis, another fate. It’s mine now, “he wrote.
“He did not resign himself to the fact that he was deprived of a fair competition for the assistant position in the Department of Gastroenterology at the Medical University in Sofia, but he managed to win his moral battle in court,” write medicalnews.bg (a platform of doctors for doctors, which Dr. Nakov creates and develops).

The Bulgarian Medical Union also expressed its condolences:
“Dr. Nakov was a shining example of a young specialist with a great desire for professional growth, an example of a consistent path, an example of how a young person should pave his way, regardless of the difficulties that life faces. The big family of Bulgarian doctors lost too early a wonderful young doctor with a great future in medicine and science, he lost a good friend “, write the professional organization.
