Dr. Momchil Stanishev: We are starting the year with new initiatives for cooperation between CEE and China in agriculture – 2024-02-22 12:59:23

/ world today news/ The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Center for Promotion of Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture are starting the year with a new initiative. The ambition of the Ministry and of the CNSSCCCIE is to make this initiative an annual event and to contribute to the spread of innovative solutions in agriculture and to connect the entrepreneurial ecosystems of the CEE countries and China.

This is what the executive director of the Center, Dr. Momchil Stanishev, who is one of the initiators of the idea, said for KMG. He explained that it is about the launch of a pilot edition of the Accelerator Program for start-ups in the field of agriculture. The objectives of the program are to attract young and enterprising people to the agricultural sector, as well as to support the development of innovative services, applications and products in agriculture.

“The Center for the Promotion of Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture between China and the Countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CECSCIE), a secondary authority with a budget under the Ministry of Agriculture, begins the implementation of the pilot project “Accelerator program for start-up enterprises in the field of agriculture between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe”, which will be held in the period from March 27 to April 1, in Sofia”, he explained and added details on the acceptance of applications for participation in the program. The recruitment of projects starts from January 10, 2023 and will continue until March 10, 2023,” announced Dr. Stanishev.

He recalled that among the target groups of the Accelerator Program are the creation of innovative solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of the HoReKa industry, GIS in agriculture, solutions for food waste, carbon neutrality in agriculture, food technologies, irrigation systems, circular economy of supply food and beverages, and more.

“The interest and attention will be focused especially on the final day, when the teams of the 20 startups admitted to participate will present their business concept and project to an external jury, as well as to investors, representatives of academia and business, experts, media and diplomats from CEE and China”, emphasizes the director of the Center, announcing that the three best projects from the twenty finalists in the Accelerator Program will be awarded financial prizes as follows:

1st place – 25,000 euros;

2nd place – 15,000 euros;

3rd place – 10,000 euros.

Dr. Momchil Stanishev is convinced that this program will begin to be held every year and will be an example of good practices and innovative solutions in agriculture, as well as for connecting the entrepreneurial ecosystems of CEE countries and China.
