Ibtisam Al Hammadi

Dr. Ibtisam Al-Hammadi, a professor at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, participated in the cultural program of Sharjah Theater Days, under the title “Semantics and Aesthetics of Costumes in Theater.” She pointed out in her research paper the importance and status of theatrical costumes, saying, “Theatrical costumes are a pivotal and main element of the theatrical show with what it carries.” The form and content serve the integrity of the show, as it works to create a fusion between the character written in the text and the actor’s body, which the director seeks to translate through his directorial vision.”
Al-Hammadi pointed out that the task of the costume designer is based on understanding the artistic and dramatic data, which is manifested through dealing with the dimensions of the personality to present an environment that is compatible with the time and place and taking into account the artistic school approved for theatrical presentation.
She also noted a number of international experiences, saying: The text of “Macbeth” was presented hundreds of times with different visions, and with each vision, the witches of Macbeth were embodied in a different way, so the fashion designer can enter into the challenge and how to present these characters differently from the fashion designers who preceded them.
Dr. Al-Hammadi participated in the symposium moderated by Dr. Zahraa Al-Mansour, including Sanaa Shadal, Enas Ezzat, Reem Shamali, and Marwa Odeh. It is noteworthy that the symposium sought to introduce the place and role of clothing in enhancing the value of the theatrical show, especially with the remarkable development in the use of technological means in the field of constructing and shaping the theatrical show.
The activities of “Sharjah Theater Days” will continue until the 9th of this month.
