Dr. Hossam Mowafi, Professor of Critical Cases at the Faculty of Medicine, Kasr Al-Ainy, confirmed that obesity poses a great threat to human health, pointing to the existence of an effective diet in its treatment.

It was revealed that this diet requires the obese patient to get 1000 calories per day, divided into 5 meals, as shown below:
1- Breakfast at five in the morning: a quarter of a loaf of bread + a piece of cheese + a tomato + a cup of tea with milk without sugar.
2- A snack at twelve o’clock in the afternoon: a piece of fruit, such as a banana or an apple.
3- The first lunch at three in the afternoon: a quarter of a loaf of bread + chicken, meat or fish.
4- The second lunch at six in the evening: green salad + rice or a quarter of a loaf of bread.
5- Dinner at exactly ten o’clock in the evening: a cup of yogurt sweetened with a teaspoon of bee honey.

The professor of critical care medicine confirmed that the 1,000-calorie diet helps to lose 4 to 6 kilograms of body weight per week.

On the other hand, Muwafi warned of a common method used by some obese patients to lose weight, which is “abstaining from eating for several days,” because they believe that this diet increases the rate of burning body fat.

He added that the diet of not eating actually stimulates the body to burn the accumulated fats, but incompletely, and the reason is due to the lack of glucose, which depends on it to perform this vital process.
