Fasano – The pandemic has highlighted the deficits of the regional and provincial health system, rather than national: the timing of Dr. Giuseppe Pace, vice president of Montalbano for the province, is therefore impeccable. The agenda he presented calls for the establishment of a Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Salento, with a didactic branch in the Brindisi area, called MED TEC. The proposal was in fact approved by the Council on 29 December last. The reasons for the establishment of the Degree Course are many: in addition to the social well-being that derives from an improvement in health facilities, it is necessary to consider both the economic advantages of students from Lecce and Brindisi who would attend courses on site and the attraction of a health center. for those who move between regions for treatment (about 15,000 people per year).
