After 24 years, the marriage between Dr. Dre (56) and Nicole Young (51) ends with one of the highest divorce rates in the industry ever.
It reports several American media, among others Rolling Stone and TMZ.
They write that Dr. Dre and Nicole Young have recently submitted a marriage settlement agreement, where it appears in the court documents that Dre has agreed to pay Young 100 million dollars – 50 million now, and 50 million next year.
The sum corresponds to more than 880 million Norwegian kroner, and marks one of the most expensive divorce settlements in the industry.
This is how they distribute assets
According to TMZ, Dre must be good for more than DKK 7.2 billion.
In the settlement they are now to enter into, Dre is allowed to keep seven of the properties they own, including a Malibu home, two homes in Calabasas and four properties in the LA area, including the Brentwood property which is worth 100 million dollars.
In addition, Dre gets full rights to his master recordings, trademarks and interests in various partnerships. He also retains all of their Apple shares, which include the proceeds from the sale of “Beats by Dr”.
They share the fleet they have of vehicles – he gets six and she gets four cars. She is allowed to keep jewelery, cash and bank accounts that she had kept during the marriage.
The agreement precludes Young’s opportunity to receive support from the spouse, which was strongly disputed during the divorce.
Bitter strife
Dr. Dre and Young had been married for 24 years when it became known last summer that Young had filed for divorce. The couple has a son of 24 and a daughter of 20 together. Dr. Dre also has four children from previous relationships.
The divorce has been marked by a lot of conflict.
According to US media, Young made demands for financial support from her husband in the separation papers. The two have also quarreled over the marriage pact according to the wife TMZ claims she was forced to sign, and as she claims he two years later tore to pieces.
Dre, for his part, claims that he never tore up the contract, that it is valid, and that his wife signed voluntarily.
Earlier this year, Young promoted several accusations against her ex-husband and said, among other things, that he abused her before they got married – and on the wedding night. The artist, for his part, believed that the ex-wife made false accusations of squeezing him for money.
