Earthquake last night in the small world of Twitch partners, with the announcement of the ban of Dr Disrespect, which this time seems to be final.
The exact reasons for this ban are not yet known, but several sources agree that this is not a copyright issue. Rod Breslau ad that the ban is permanent, while Shannon Liao, journalist at The Verge, relays a press release from Twitch:
Twitch’s statement on @drdisrespect ban: “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”

As expected in our processes, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has violated our community guidelines and terms of use. These apply to all of our streamers, regardless of their status or importance in the community.
It is not the first time that Dr Disrespect, or Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV of his real name, had already been suspended in 2019 after having streamed from his toilet. Also, Dexerto indicates on its Twitter account, supporting image, that subscriptions to the streamer’s channel have been reimbursed by the platform. Finally, it seems that his partner status has been revoked, although confirmation is awaited on this subject.
Twitch has canceled subscriptions to Dr Disrespect’s channel and is sending refunds. His emotes are also no longer available.
So all that’s left is to wait for clarification from Twitch, which is likely to happen in the days and weeks to come.
