Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki Launches Awareness Campaign on Public Health and Dental Care

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Care and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, participated in the activities of the conference launching the awareness campaign on the importance of public health, most notably the safety and health of the mouth and teeth, which was organized by Unilever Mashreq Company for Industry and Trade, in Qalaa. Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki began his speech at the conference, expressing his happiness to participate in this unique event, in this great historical site, Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi Citadel, to witness the launch of the second phase of the awareness campaign on the importance of taking care of the safety and health of the mouth, teeth, and hand hygiene, in cooperation with Unilever Egypt. Al-Subki pointed out that about 40% to 50% of people suffer from oral and dental diseases, pointing to the World Health Organization’s report in 2022, which indicates that about 3 out of 4 people suffer from oral diseases globally, stressing that these diseases can be avoided. Al-Sabki pointed out that the 2014 Constitution stipulated that “every citizen has the right to health and integrated health care,” and from this standpoint, Egypt’s Vision 2030 aimed for citizens to enjoy a healthy life by providing integrated health coverage, which was achieved through the Comprehensive Health Insurance Law. Which was approved in 2018, and was inaugurated by His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on November 26, 2019, indicating that comprehensive health insurance is the cornerstone of the new health system.

Al-Subki continued: From here, the role of the Health Care Authority began, as it is the main state arm for providing health services in the comprehensive health insurance system, by providing all the health services that beneficiaries need, and one of those services is dental services, which are included within the beneficiary service packages, indicating that it is provided by Through dental clinics in family medicine units and centers at the highest level, numbering 210 units and centers in the governorates of the first phase, since the launch of the system until now we have provided more than 2 million services.

He added that, out of our belief that our role is not only to provide treatment but also better health to our beneficiaries, and in our endeavor to achieve the third goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, good health and well-being, the General Authority for Health Care has made raising health awareness for beneficiaries one of our strategic goals, and that Within the framework of social responsibility for all our health facilities.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki pointed out that from here we began launching many campaigns and initiatives to raise health awareness, including the campaign in which we celebrate the results of the first phase and we will launch the second phase of it, the “Hold Your Health in Your Hands and Teeth” campaign to enhance awareness about the importance of taking care of the safety and health of the mouth and teeth. Pointing out that the first phase of the campaign succeeded in reaching more than 20 million citizens and provided more than 804,000 diagnostic and therapeutic dental services in schools and squares in the comprehensive health insurance governorates of Luxor, Ismailia, Port Said, and Suez.

During the celebration, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki witnessed the signing of a bilateral cooperation protocol between the Public Authority for Health Care and Unilever Mashreq Company for Industry and Trade to launch the second phase of the “Hold Your Health in Your Hands and Your Teeth” campaign, with the aim of providing a new package of services and educating citizens about oral and dental health care. And training health service providers on the latest practices in this field, at the level of comprehensive health insurance governorates, with the aim of reaching the equivalent of approximately 25% of the population of each governorate, hoping that it will have a significant impact on the health of citizens.

The protocol was signed by Dr. Amir Al-Talwani, Executive Director of the Public Authority for Health Care, representing the Authority, and Mr. Tamer Mahmoud, Member of the Board of Directors of Unilever Mashreq Company for Industry and Trade, representing the company.

The two sides agreed to cooperate to launch the second phase of the awareness campaign on oral and dental health and safety within primary health care centers and units affiliated with the Health Care Authority, or through vehicles affiliated with the implementation of the campaign, at the level of comprehensive health insurance governorates, and under the supervision of health service providers affiliated with the Health Care Authority. Health.

They agreed to promote the awareness campaign messages to care for the health and safety of the mouth, teeth and body through print, electronic, audio and visual media on terrestrial and satellite channels, and all electronic platforms and social networking sites, in addition to leaflets that will be distributed to citizens within the governorates that will witness the campaign’s activities, to reach Maximize awareness of citizens and achieve the campaign’s objectives.

They agreed to implement the awareness campaign also within a school program to raise awareness about oral and dental safety and health and general body hygiene for school children at the primary level. Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki expressed his happiness to strengthen the strategic partnership with Unilever by signing the cooperation protocol, and continuing joint work to enhance awareness and adopt healthy behaviors for citizens as a basic pillar of a comprehensive healthy society, stressing that this cooperation embodies the actual application of the concept of partnerships between the public and private sectors, as partners in success. As a real key to ensuring the sustainability of universal health coverage, and a successful example of fruitful and continuous cooperation to achieve better health for citizens. Al-Sabki thanked all the success partners of the Health Care Authority, stressing the continuation of cooperation with international organizations, and expressing his happiness for the participation of representatives of UNICEF, the World Dental Federation, and the Egyptian Dental Association in the conference.

He continued: We express our aspiration for more successes and achievements in the future in promoting oral and dental health and achieving continuous improvement in the quality of life for society. For her part, Ms. Shazia Syed Nadeem Ansar, General Manager of Unilever in North Africa, the Levant and Iraq, expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the Public Health Care Authority in promoting health awareness and educating citizens.

She stressed that the strategic partnership between Unilever and the Authority will contribute to achieving a positive and sustainable impact on society. She also emphasized the importance of training health service providers and raising their efficiency in the field of oral and dental care through developmental training programs to implement the latest practices in this field. She expressed her hope that this successful partnership will continue. The celebration included honoring the most distinguished workers in implementing the first phase of the “Hold Your Health” campaign in the comprehensive health insurance governorates, which was launched in cooperation between the Care Authority and Unilever, to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining the safety and health of the mouth and teeth, in appreciation of their efforts and outstanding performance in implementing the campaign. .

It included holding a discussion session, highlighting the importance of taking care of oral safety and health, and how the care authority works with Unilever, UNICEF, the FDI Foundation, and the EDA Association to intensify their efforts to bring about a positive change among Egyptians in behaviors and habits related to oral and dental health. An elite group of people also participated in the session. It included experts and specialists in the field of oral health, pharmacy, and medication management, where experiences were discussed and exchanged on the application of the latest medical practices and technologies in this field.
