It is embedded in the overall social ethics, from which all the factors that corrupt it must be torn out. A public request to all public systems and a general reform plan is needed. Nothing positive will happen if individual systems are reformed “piecemeal”.
Nothing will happen to the judicial system per se if the other systems are not reformed.
Sociologist Yury Aslanov, who is also a member of the National Council of the BSP, commented on this in an interview for “Dnevnik”.
According to him, the evaluation of the achieved “historical compromise” is pending. For now, we only know that the “compromise” is in the form of the required number of signatures, he says.
When asked “What are/will be the side effects of this compromise?” he replies: “Usual as with any drug – vomiting, upset and stuff”.
According to Yuriy Aslanov, the referendum in the form in which the parliament decided to hold it is pointless. Half the blame lies with the president because of the imprecise and ambiguous wording of the questions. The other half belongs to the ruling majority parties, who could have pushed through the decision, but didn’t, he commented.
The sociologist is not surprised by the election of Maya Manolova from BSP as national ombudsman, because “in the age of historical compromises, anything is possible”.
However, he is of the opinion that the upcoming local elections are “pregnant with big surprises”.
Aslanov does not think that the cabinet of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov will fall apart, as they are held firmly by interest and the lack of a strong opposition.
Regarding the role of DPS, he commented:
DPS is the ruling party. It dictates the country’s political agenda. When the DPS ruled on behalf of the BSP and because of that the “Oresharski” cabinet was overthrown, I thought that the DPS would not touch power in the coming years. Well, I was wrong. It is clear that they are much stronger than all the other parties.
