/ world today news/ People’s representatives from the parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms introduced a bill to amend and supplement the Election Code. It proposes measures against the 15/15 phenomenon. It is also proposed that the pre-election campaign can be conducted in a language other than Bulgarian, but with a translation provided, removing the mandatory voting, as well as the box “I do not support anyone”.
With the changes, it is proposed that the CEC conduct a lottery for the numbers immediately after the expiration of the deadline for the registration of the participants in elections, and that the parties and coalitions have the right not to put a candidate on the list under the number that matches the one from the lottery.
The reason for the proposed changes is to avoid errors of the 15/15 type. It is proposed that the drawing of lots for the numbers of parties and coalitions takes place before the registration of the candidate lists, and that each party decides for itself and has the right to leave the place of the matching number empty.
In the draft law, it is also proposed that the election campaign can be conducted in a language other than Bulgarian, but with provided translation, removal of mandatory voting, as well as the “I do not support anyone” box.
