/ world today news/ “Before solving the problem of democratic governance, it is not possible to solve the other issues. Undemocratic governance cannot give rise to democratic reforms”.
This was stated at a rally in the village of Yablanovo by DPS leader Lyutvi Mestan, quoted by the party press center. “Bulgaria has serious problems related to the state of the economy, employment, and the social status of the country’s citizens. It became clear that there is also a particularly serious problem with the readiness of the army to cover the commitments to NATO. DPS is ready to constructively participate in solving these problems, but there is one most important problem before them. We are experiencing a severe crisis of tolerance”, said Mestan.
He defined as “the most ugly manifestation of the severe erosion of democratic values” the proposal of the Patriotic Front to punish the use of the mother tongue in the election campaign with imprisonment.
“Unfortunately, the partners of the PF in the governing coalition – GERB and the Reform Bloc are silent and thus become silent accomplices, and the right is getting closer and closer to national populism, and this is the most dangerous phenomenon in modern Bulgarian politics,” said Mestan.
He described his party as “the main pillar of liberal democracy”
