Jakarta (28/04) – DPR RI Commission IX Deputy Chairman Kurniasih Mufidayati expressed his concern about the increase in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases. He revealed that from the month of Ramadan to Shawwal, cases caused by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito were increasing and were very worrying.
According to his records, on April 15, the figure had reached 62 thousand cases and 475 people had died. According to him, this has become an alarm number and is a warning like a dark red light for stakeholders.
“There are several areas of concern due to the number of 62 thousand, West Java, DKI Jakarta, then Central Java, East Java and Kalimantan are the biggest contributors, and even some of the death rates in several areas as well. “This means that this has become a concern that needs an immediate solution,” stressed Kurniasih at the Nusantara I Building, DPR RI, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (25/04/ 2024).
“If it is said that the public is not paying attention or being aware, it means that this is also the responsibility of the government. “This means there is still a need to develop the healthy community movement.”
This politician from the PKS group said that the DPR had reminded the government about the spike in dengue fever cases, but unfortunately the increase in cases could not be stopped.
“We have actually reminded the government to the Ministry of Health so that they can expect a spike in dengue fever numbers. “At our last meeting in March before we left for the month of Ramadan, the dengue fever rate was already very high, especially in DKI Jakarta,” said Kurniasih.
He explained that what must be done together now is to find solutions, without blaming each other, and save society from the possibility of dengue fever. This Council Member from DKI Jakarta II Constituency emphasized that there should be no increase in deaths.
“If the reason is asked, I don’t think we should blame each other today. Is it because society is not like this, not like that? If it is said that the public is not paying attention or being aware, this means that this is also the responsibility of the government. “This means that the healthy community movement still needs to be developed,” explained Kurniasih.
Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Indonesia remain very high. Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the number of dengue fever cases recorded until the 16th week of 2024 reached 76,132 people.
This figure has increased significantly after previously on March 26, 2024 the number of cases reached 53,131 people. Not only that, based on information from the Head of the Communications and Public Services Bureau, Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the death toll from dengue cases has even reached 540 people.
