The second project of the State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure” (DPPI) has been approved and will be implemented under the “Transport Connectivity” Program 2021-2027.
The duration of the project for the rehabilitation of the breakwater in the Port of Burgas is 38 months, and the grant provided under the program is slightly over BGN 38,000,000.
A contractor selection procedure has already been announced.
The implementation of the project is aimed at the reconstruction and modernization of the old breakwater of the city of Burgas, which, as a result of the years, has a highly compromised and damaged structure, due to a number of external factors, mainly natural phenomena such as strong winds, large waves and damaged armor from artificial elements.
It is planned to increase the height of the breakwater and renew its structural elements.
Through the implementation of the project, not only the main function of the breakwater to ensure a calm water surface in the port water area of the Port of Burgas will be improved, but also a completely new functionality will be added – a pedestrian walkway with free access.
The planned activities for the implementation of the project will lead to a comprehensive improvement of the port infrastructure, ensuring greater safety of shipping and port facilities, as well as contribute to the achievement of better quality port services in the area of the Port of Burgas.
