The editors and freelancers of thirteen newspapers and websites of DPG Media stopped work for a short time on Thursday morning. The campaign asks employees of, among others: Het Parool, FidelityNU.nl, AD in de Volkskrant attention to the lack of purchasing power compensation.

At 10.10 am, DPG Media employees left the workplace at several locations for a short work stoppage. Employees of the journalists’ union NVJ were also present. After about ten minutes the work was resumed.

The publisher’s staff asked for compensation earlier this year due to rising prices. That request was initially rejected. But after the staff threatened to take action, a one-off compensation for permanent employees was promised. The staff and the union do not believe this proposal is sufficient.

Last month, 150 employees also resigned NRC in collaboration with the NVJ, the work was completed for a short period of time. The newspaper’s employees also asked for compensation for the loss of purchasing power. According to a spokesperson for the newspaper, negotiations with management are still ongoing. “But a step in the right direction has been taken for a new proposal.”
