RKI registers 55 889 new corona infections – incidence at 335.9
BERLIN – The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has reported a sharp increase in the number of new infections transmitted within 24 hours compared to the previous week. The value was given on Saturday morning with 55 889, in the week before there were 26 392 recorded new infections. The RKI gave the 7-day incidence as 335.9. For comparison: the previous day the value was 303.4. A week ago the nationwide incidence was 220.3 (previous month: 427.0). This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 3:24 a.m.

BERLIN – Luxembourg and almost 40 other countries have been wholly or partially high-risk areas since this Sunday due to the high number of corona infections. BERLIN – Tens of thousands of people protested against the Corona policy in Germany over the weekend. The largest demonstration took place on Saturday in Hamburg, where, according to police, around 13,700 people gathered. Thousands of demonstrators were also on the move in numerous other cities. There were also counter-demonstrations in some cities. Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD) and Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann (FDP) clearly distanced themselves from the protests against the corona policy.

British Foreign Minister threatens the Brexit dispute over Northern Ireland
LONDON – British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss was adamant in the dispute over Northern Ireland ahead of her first meeting with EU Brexit representative Maros Sefcovic. Truss wrote in a guest post in the “Sunday Telegraph” that she was ready to trigger the emergency clause in Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol and thus suspend parts of the Brexit agreement between Brussels and London.
Minister of Labor Heil: ‘Minimum wage of 12 euros will come in 2022’
BERLIN – Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil wants to implement the promised increase in the minimum wage to 12 euros this year. “As a candidate for Chancellor, Olaf Scholz said that we would increase the minimum wage to EUR 12 within a year. And we will increase it in 2022 because it is necessary,” Heil told the German Press Agency. The SPD politician announced that he would submit a draft law “in the next few weeks”. “The increase to 12 euros will and must come. It is a question of fair performance and respect for decent work.”
