Dozens of people were trapped in a traffic jam at Pakuwon Tower Casablanca, South Jakarta (Jaksel). Now all the victims have been successfully evacuated and there are no casualties, but one victim was injured.
“Casualties: none, injured: 1 person,” said Tebet Police Chief Kompol Chintya Intania Kusnita, in a written statement, Tuesday (9/5/2023).
Chintya said the injured victim was in shock. The victim, he said, had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
“The victim experienced traumatic shock (because the last victim was successfully evacuated), at 21.50 WIB. The victim is currently being referred to Agung Hospital, Setiabudi, for observation,” he said.
Manager explanation
The management of Pakuwon Tower Casablanca, South Jakarta, confirmed that 13 people have been arrested from three stalled elevators in the building. The elevator at Pakuwon Tower experienced a problem during work hours.
“Nine people were evacuated from the first elevator, three people from the second elevator were evacuated, and one of our employees was from the third elevator,” said Building Manager of Pakuwon Tower Casablanca, Agustius, as quoted by Antara, Monday (8/5).
Agustius explained that at that time the elevator experienced a traffic jam around 18.45 WIB and at that time his party did not know that there were three elevator units that experienced errors (errors). Then, he also heard a bang from several people coming from the building and his team immediately confirmed this condition.
After checking, it was found that there were three elevators that were jammed, namely on different floors, namely floors 5, floors 27 and floors 47. Then his party carried out the evacuation manually.
“What took so long to evacuate the lift stopped in the middle of its route because there are only high zones and midzones and there are no doors at the midzone level,” he said.
